More About Melissa
Melissa is an experienced nurse practitioner who graduated from VCU with a Masters of Science in Nursing, Adult Acute Care. Prior to her time at Vascular Surgery Associates, she worked as a nurse practitioner in Adult Acute Care in neurosurgery, orthopedics, internal medicine and vascular fields. She is board certified as an acute care nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She has been in the industry for over thirteen years prior to joining us, with a clinical interest in patient education, critical care/acute disease management, aortic surgery and cardiology.
Your regular physician will continue overseeing your care when you visit our nurse practitioner. Melissa improves access to our practice by assisting with hospital consultations and office visits. This allows us to see new patients in a more timely fashion and to provide for more rapid evaluation of existing patients with acute changes or more urgent concerns. If a particular problem requires the attention of a physician, Melissa works in consultation with the physician to ensure you receive the highest quality care.
