Also known as Duplex Scanning of the Abdominal Aorta and Iliacs
This examination evaluates the abdominal aorta and iliac arteries for blockages and/or aneurysmal dilation.
Beyond the presence or absence of such issues, duplex scanning can track the size and growth of aneurysms in case of enlargement. This imaging procedure is helpful in providing optimal care to patients who have had endovascular repair of the aortic aneurysm in order to identify graft leaks or to track further enlargement of the aneurysm. With the increasing use of endovascular stents, duplex imaging can also assist the physician in determining the continued efficacy of stent grafts placed in the iliac arteries.
